Steel Stamping Process And It’s Flow
Steel Stamping is a
process involved in the automotive industry for the productivity improvements
and unit cost reduction. Stamping processes to be used for a creating a panel
in automotive industry and the panels are depend on its design. However, the
process involves various operations such as blanking, drawing, piercing,
forming, notching, trimming, hemming, etc. The Steel Stamping process is a
single stage operation and with every stroke of the press desired metal products
is produced.
Blanking is a method,
which prepares the initial approximate form of the part in flat sheet. Drawing
is a method of stamping process generally involved in the first operation to
attain depth related form. Piercing, notching, hemming, are the major
operations related to product designs. Trimming generally removes the extra
material on the periphery of the panel provided for blank holding during draw
operation. Decision on trim line is very important and becomes deciding factor
to obtain good draw.
Stamping process involved
in the automotive industry mainly responsible for processing outer layer parts
of a vehicle body such as door, roof etc.
This activity comes under quality information and the quality
information is of two type’s namely internal and external quality information
flow.
External
Quality Information Flow:
In the external quality
information flow, the first link of the four craft industries contact closely
with suppliers, the quality department and manufacturing.
The metal
sheets that pass the inspection section will be sent to the manufacturing
process and the quality departments have a SIP (standard inspection process)
confirm stand in the last section in stamping workshop process. This section examines stamping parts
before been stored in the warehouse. If quality defects are found, they would
determine responsibility area and repair.
Internal Quality Information Flow:
In the
internal quality information process, stamping workshop contains opening the
material, deep drawing, and scrap edge, punching and reshaping processes. The
products from stamping workshop need to pass the workshop inspection and
confirm with standard inspection process.
